Rachel Valdés is a contemporary Cuban artist known for her immersive installations, perceptual environments, and investigations into light, space, and consciousness. Based between Havana and Barcelona, and trained at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, she works across painting, photography, public intervention, Land Art, and large-scale installation. Through mirrors, glass, stainless steel, color, and optical reflection, Valdés creates works that transform the viewer’s relationship to space and make perception an active, embodied experience. Her public installations, including The Beginning of the End in Times Square and Blue Cube in Havana, have expanded her practice into the urban landscape. Her work brings a contemporary dialogue on light, matter, and sensory awareness to Gary Nader Art Centre’s program.
