Oswaldo Vigas was a major figure of Venezuelan modernism and one of the most distinctive Latin American artists of the postwar period. His celebrated Brujas series became an enduring iconography, transforming the female figure into a vessel of ancestry, ritual, nature, and psychic energy. Moving between figuration, geometric abstraction, informalism, muralism, ceramics, tapestry, and sculpture, Vigas forged an independent path between Latin American memory and international modernism.
